Midterm Elections 2018: Republican MOCKS Democrats’ attempt to beat Trump with OPRAH

The Chairman of Republican Overseas Scotland dismissed Hollywood big hitters like Oprah Winfrey could help Democrats win the House and Senate at the on November 6.

The American media executive and Democrats supporter on Thursday went out to canvass Georgia voters in support for Gubernatorial candidate – sparking concerns the woman who got America “to eat pizza with cauliflower crust” could help take the race from ‘s Republicans.

But speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Mr Liquerman dismissed such claims, insisting data would help the GOP deliver a new victory to Mr Trump: “The Republicans right now are best letting the Democrats wheel out their celebrities, people who have nothing to do with politics.

“Let them talk and let the job reports speak. Let the job report talk for our side. A job report just came out today, another historical low in US unemployment, 250,000 jobs added to the economy, wages soaring.”

A new report from the US Labor Department published on Friday showed unemployment rates remained steady at 3.7 percent, a 50-year low for the United States.

The report also showed the US added 250,000 jobs in the month of October, with the number of people in work or seeking employment jumping from 62.7 percent in September to 67.9 in October.

Mr Liquerman continued: “Republicans, we got to get out the message of how well the economy is doing. The Democrats can have their celebrity endorsements come out and talk about whatever people in Hollywood want to talk about about the election.

“The Republicans will do well, we’ll have a strong voter turnout if we actually sell how well the US economy is doing right now.”

He added: “If we hit home on that, that’s more important than any celebrity endorsement.”

Oprah has urged Georgians to make history by electing the first black female Democrat to sit as governor of the state.

Also rallying behind Ms Abrams is former president and Hollywood names such as Will Ferrel and Mark Ruffalo, who have all campaigned in the midterm elections runup.

The hotly contested Georgia governor’s race has garnered national attention and is currently neck and neck, with Ms Abrams up against Republican nominee Brian Kemp.

Oprah won the praise of numerous media figures with her impassionate speech in support of Ms Abrams, including from President Trump’s favourite cable-news channel – Fox News.

Host Melissa Francis branded the talk show host a “master” for inspiring listeners with her words and Fox Business contributor Dagen McDowell was quick to agree with her assessment.

Referencing a line of healthy food products Oprah has launched in the US supermarket chain, Mr McDowell said: “A lot of celebrities can raise money for you if you’re running for political office.

“Oprah Winfrey has a spiritual connection with so much of this country and it was built over years and years of doing that talk show.”

He added: “If that woman can get folks to eat pizza with a cauliflower crust on it, she is going to get that woman elected.”

American will head to the polls to elect one-third of the Senate and all seats in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, November 6.
