Fortnite patch 6.21 LIVE: Balloons update out now, but has Epic Games added gifting?

update 6.21 is live on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android.

To coincide with the release of the update, Epic Games has taken the game offline.

The news was confirmed by Epic Games on Twitter: “Downtime for the v6.21 update has started. Pop over to the Patch Notes to see what’s on the way!”

Fans can keep themselves occupied by reading the , which are now live.

Unsurprisingly, Balloons are the big new addition to Fortnite Battle Royale this week.

Balloons will allow players float above the battlefield and get the jump on the competition.

You can watch the trailer for the new Balloons feature below.

“Blow ‘em up and float away, this new addition lets you get around like never before,” reads an Epic post.

But Epic Games warns not to float for too long, because Balloons don’t last forever and will pop when they reach the max height.

Unfortunately, however, there’s no sign of the gifting feature, which was leaked earlier this week.

Twitter user Jaren appears to have discovered files showing four different types of Gifting boxes, which means the feature can’t be far off.

Absent from this week’s update, it’s possible Gifting will launch alongside Season 7, which is bound to have a Christmas tie-in.

Fortnite update 6.21 patch sizes have also been revealed by Epic Games.

Update 6.21 is said to weigh in at 1.63 GB on PC, 2.77 GB on Mac, 917 MB on PS4, 1.96 GB on Xbox One, 441 MB on Switch, 592 MB on iOS and 724 MB on Android.

Fortnite Battle Royale will return just a few hours before the release of the Week 6 challenges.

According to leaks, one of the easy Week 6 challenges is said to task players with deploying three Chiller traps.
