US midterm elections: Steve Bannon gives STERN WARNING if Democrats win the House

Mr Bannon said he expects Robert Mueller’s report on the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential election to be finished by the end of the year.

He added that if Democrats take control of the House of Representatives they will use the Mueller report as a blueprint to launch impeachment proceedings.

Addressing 25 Republican loyalists gathered in a Holiday Inn Express on US-24 highway near Topeka, Mr Bannon urged them to match the opposition’s enthusiasm in the election.

He emphasised the importance of Kansas, which could tip the scale in the elections for the House of Representatives this year.

The former Breitbart executive chairman said a New York Times poll put Democrat Paul Davis at a four-point lead over Republican Steve Watkins in the state.

He said this sparked him to fly to Kansas to hold the meeting.

Whilst refusing to praise Mr Watkins, saying he does not campaign for individual candidates, he encouraged supporters to think about who will be the next Speaker of the House.

Mr Bannon said: “I tip my hat to the opposition. I like a good, fair fight. They have been aggressive. They’ve raised money.

“They’ve been on message, and it’s up to us, right? You get the Trump people out, you’re going to win.

Mr Watkins’ spokesman Bryan Piligra, whilst explaining there was no connection between their campaign and Mr Bannon’s event, echoed the worry that Representative Nancy Pelosi could return to the position of Speaker.

He said: “That’s why Nancy Pelosi and her allies have made Steve Watkins a top five target for their smear campaign nationwide and why conservatives like Bob Dole and Lynn Jenkins are standing up for Steve.

“Steve Watkins will continue to run his race on his own terms and will not be deterred.”

Mr Bannon credited divine providence for Trump’s win in 2016, but said praying would not be enough this time.

He said the Republican party needs volunteers to help with phone banks and canvassing door-to-door.

In the audience were activists, event organisers and a film crew following Mr Bannon for a documentary.

People were notified at midday by a text that read: “Support Trump and MAGA! Red tide rising rally with Steve Bannon.”
