Nintendo Direct Smash Bros COUNTDOWN: Banjo Kazooie, live stream, start time, leaks

gamers are being treated to a new Nintendo Direct this week all about Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

The Japanese gaming giant are holding the Smash Direct on Thursday with a 40 minute presentation dedicated to the upcoming Nintendo Switch exclusive.

It’s expected the Nintendo Direct will reveal the remaining characters left in the Super Smash Bros Ultimate character roster.

And it’s also likely that the will reveal more about the unannounced game mode that was teased back in August.

During that Direct Smash Bros director Masahiro Sakurai showed the Super Smash Bros Ultimate start menu.

One game mode was blurred out with Sakurai-san teasing that more would be revealed on it later.

And with this week’s Direct being the final one on Smash Bros, it seems the perfect time to finally reveal what this mode will be.

It’s widely tipped that this mysterious game mode will be the Super Smash Bros storyline.

Elsewhere, the Smash Direct is expected to reveal more as-yet unannounced characters for the Nintendo Switch brawler.

One long-time rumour that fans will be hoping comes true surrounds Banjo Kazooie.

This rumour was seemingly given more weight when a leak emerged last week.

The leak, first published on Snapchat and then ResetEra, claimed to show the full roster for Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

Seven unannounced characters could be made out in a blurry image allegedly showing the complete Smash Bros fighter selection.

These alleged yet-to-be announced characters were Shadow, Banjo Kazooie, Isaac (Golden Sun), Ken, Mach Rider, Geno and Rhythm Heaven’s Chorus Kids.

However the veracity of this leak, dubbed by fans as the ‘Grinch leak’, has since been called into question by multiple parties.

Eurogamer’s Tom Phillips tweeted: “Smash Direct, 2pm UK time on Thursday. Time for last week’s fake leak to get buried for good”.

While ‘Nintendo super fan’ and podcaster Stealth posted: “The Smash Direct will be 40 minutes and thankfully will finally put an end to the Grinch rumor.”

Stealth also made a number of eye-catching claims about what could be revealed during the Smash Direct.

They tweeted that the upcoming Smash Direct could be “one of the most watched Directs in the history of Directs.”

They also said that the full fighter roster reveal will not be the biggest draw of the Direct.

They tweeted: “Smash Direct is confirmed for 11/1. We are going to see the final base roster but for me that is not even the big thing of this direct.”

Stealth added: “I believe the big surprise for this direct will be related to how big the DLC plans are.”

The Nintendo Direct will take place at 2pm UK time on Thursday November 1 2018.
