New MacBook Air 2018 – These deals look tempting but here’s why you should wait

If you were thinking of treating yourself to a in the next few days you’d be wise to wait.

Despite a number of deals offering decent discounts on this hugely popular machine, there is a major upgrade which arrives in stores next week.

And don’t think this is just a faster processor and extra battery life as the latest MacBook Air is offering something completely new.

revealed its new laptop during its October keynote in New York and there’s some significant changes.

Firstly, this machine gets an all-new design which brings it more in line with the rest of the current MacBook family.

The new Retina display comes packed with more pixels and pushes further to the edges of the device.

This stunning 13.3-inch screen has over four million pixels of resolution and 48 percent more colour than the previous generation.

There’s also Apple’s new keyboard and users get access to Touch ID which unlocks the Mac and pays for online purchases with a tap of your fingerprint.

For music and video playback, there are some new speakers which are 25 percent louder with two times more bass than the previous generation for more dynamic range and fuller sound.

One other big change to the outside of the Air are the new Thunderbolt 3 ports which not only charge the battery but also offer the ultimate connectivity to other devices.

Under the aluminium hoodyou’ll also find some big upgrades with the new Air coming packed with an 8th generation Intel Core i5 processor, Intel UHD Graphics and faster 2133 MHz system memory up to 16GB

MacBook Air also features SSDs up to 1.5TB in capacity, that are up to 60 percent faster than the previous generation.

“The first MacBook Air revolutionized Mac with its thin wedge-shaped aluminum design,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

“It forever changed the entire industry for portable computers and became the world’s most loved notebook.

“Redesigning MacBook Air started with a stunning Retina display and all-day battery life, and then we added Touch ID and the Apple T2 Security Chip, the latest processors, incredible sound, the third-generation keyboard and Force Touch trackpad, high speed Thunderbolt 3 ports, and of course macOS Mojave in a beautiful, thinner, lighter, all-aluminum design that a whole new generation of MacBook Air customers are going to love.”

This is clearly a major update but it’s worth noting the price.

The new MacBook Air starts from £1,199 with the top-end 1.5TB model costing over £2,500.

Meanwhile, deals on the current generation of MacBook Air start from as little as £795 with Currys and John Lewis both offering some decent offers at the moment.

If you are desperate to update you MacBook Air our advice would be to wait until next week when this upgrade arrives in stores before spending your money.

It might be more expensive than the current generation but there’s plenty to like about the all-new Air.
