Man Utd transfer news: Jose Mourinho identifies the three players Ed Woodward should sign

Manchester United manager Mourinho is keen to bolster his defence when the transfer window reopens in January.

Despite Victor Lindelof finally resembling the £30million star the club thought they were getting a year ago, the Red Devils remain leaky at the back.

Manchester United have already shipped 17 goals this season, despite conceding just 28 throughout last season.

Mourinho is understood to still be smarting at Ed Woodward for his failure to land him a defender during the summer.

Toby Alderweireld and Harry Maguire, of Tottenham and Leicester respectively, were both eyed.

And pursuits of Yerry Mina, Jerome Boateng and Diego Godin also ultimately proved fruitless.

ESPN claim, though, that Mourinho now has three fresh defensive transfer targets in mind.

Inter Milan powerhouse Milan Skriniar remains on the 55-year-old’a agenda.

The player was priced at £75million in the summer but, despite that huge price tag, Mourinho is eyeing a United deal.

AC Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli is also being tracked.

And Mourinho would also love to sign Nikola Milenkovic, who has enjoyed a stunning rise at Fiorentina.

Meanwhile, speaking after United’s 2-1 victory over Everton on Sunday, the Red Devils boss admitted to concerns over his side.

”We are not as solid as I would like,” he said.

“We are not as rock solid as I would like, we don’t have the killer instinct I would like.”

Mourinho’s dream signing would be Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane.

But, given the France international’s importance to Los Blancos, a reunion appears unlikely.
