Google Maps update brings more new features and here is all you need to know

Google Maps is hugely-popular and harnessed by millions of users around the world.

It is available on Android, iOS and desktops with Google regularly updating each with new features.

This month Google Maps has delivered a number of substantial improvements that have refined user experiences.

Recently it was announced Google Maps would display the locations of electronic vehicle charge stations, making it incredibly simple to find an outlet.

Moreover, the app recently received a new commute tab that provided real-time updates if there is a delay in either bus or train travel.

And now it appears more features have come to Google Maps.

Android Police recently noted the Navigation settings of Google Maps had received a dramatic overhaul.

Options are now displayed more clearly, meaning users can more easily find what they want.

But most notably a new “colour scheme” option has been added that allows people to choose whether they want a “day” or “night” mode.

Google Maps typically changed the colour of its layout depending on the time of day.

This meant if you were being given directions in the morning, the app would be dominated with brighter colours.

But, at night time the app would present a darker theme.

However, this new set of options allows Google Maps fans to permanently choose either theme, meaning colours will no longer adjust.

It is worth noting an “automatic” options still exists for the software that is dynamic.

And the theme chosen will only be displayed when navigating to a destination, meaning the entire app will not receive either a “day” or “night” theme overall.

Additionally, Google has also added toggles that allow users to steer clear of motorways, toll roads and ferries.

It is unclear when Google added these new features, but Express.co.uk can confirm the changes were present on our devices.

Users should make sure they have updated to the newest version of Google Maps on their hardware to take advantage of the upgrades.
