Fortnite update: 6.21 Epic Games patch notes to confirm THESE changes

Having had to delay it once already this week, a new Fortnite update release schedule has now been confirmed.

Epic Games will begin rolling out their latest build of Fortnite Battle Royale and Save the World modes at 8am in the UK.

For players in the United States, this will mean a download popping up after 4am, ET.

Fortnite patch notes will be shared around this time as well and will include all the latest details on what’s been added, or removed.

Epic Games has confirmed that downtime will be required and will start at 8am, which is likely to last several hours.

The good news is that Fortnite will probably be back up and running by around 11am.

“Float into the v6.21 update, available tomorrow! Downtime begins Thursday, November 1 at 4 AM ET,” the Epic Games announcement reveals.

As you can see by the thinly veiled hint above, Epic Games are set to release a new ballon feature into the game.

“Inflate balloons to defy gravity!” reads another Epic post. “Add balloons to increase your altitude!”

It looks like Balloons will give players the opportunity to float above the battlefield, something that the development team have been tinkering with.

Epic recently tested a new glider redeploy mechanic to help make movement around the island more accessible.

This feature is staying in place for the time being, although Epic Games are making a few tweaks to it.

“We’ve finished our first week of Glider Re-deploy being available in all modes,” Epic Games confirms.

“During this time we’ve been collecting internal data and monitoring constructive feedback from all of you.

“We understand that not all players agree with this change, but we would like to continue with this functionality in the game based on the positive results we’ve been seeing.

“As this feature remains available, we’ll begin making quality of life changes to its functionality.

“First of which will be prioritizing Glider audio over weapon audio within certain ranges, this will begin in v6.21. We also plan on adding additional changes in future updates.

“Thanks for the discussion and feedback you’ve provided. Please continue letting us know how we can improve this feature, your thoughts on its effect in matches, and any other feedback you may have as we continue to work on Glider Re-deploy.”

Balloons appear to be the next step in the development team’s quest to try and beef up the mobility options in-game.

Being able to lift yourself off the ground and redeploy your glider could prove very handy when running from the storm.

The Epic Games Trello board also reveals some of the issues being investigated by the studio.

Epic Games is investigating an issue with crosshairs being blocked for certain outfits while aiming.

Elsewhere, Player models in Replays are sometimes getting stuck with Shadow Stone effects. There’s also a problem with music for certain emotes not playing.

Epic has also fixed multiple Save the World issues, including reload problems and audio cuts.
