New MacBook Air ANNOUNCED by Apple – Release date, specs, UK price REVEALED

Apple lifted the lid on a new MacBook Air model after years of fans crying out for an upgrade.

Until now, the MacBook Air had not seen a major internal refresh since 2015.

And the design of the product had remained the same since Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs, unveiled this iconic laptop back in 2008.

The new MacBook Air introduces a number of noteworthy changes that are sure to be a hit with Apple fans.

MacBook Air comes with Apple’s signature Retina display technology, meaning content should look better than ever.

Bezels on the device have also been radically reduced.

The new MacBook Air comes with Touch ID so users can instantly access the thin and lightweight laptop.

Apple’s new butterfly keyboard also debuts that was first introduced on the MacBook Pro.

MacBook Air comes with an 8th-generation Intel Core i5 processor.

And the hardware is capable of delivering up to 13-hours of iTunes video playback on a single charge.

MacBook Air also comes with a new trackpad that supports force touches.

Each new MacBook Air is made from 100 percent recycled aluminium.

The firm made its bold announcement during its hardware keynote in New York City.

MacBook Air comes with two Thunderbolt 3 ports.

MacBook Air is available to order today and launches on November 7.

Discussing the announcement of the new MacBook Air, Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said: “The first MacBook Air revolutionised Mac with its thin wedge-shaped aluminium design.

“It forever changed the entire industry for portable computers and became the world’s most loved notebook.

“Redesigning MacBook Air started with a stunning Retina display and all-day battery life, and then we added Touch ID and the Apple T2 Security Chip, the latest processors, incredible sound, the third-generation keyboard and Force Touch trackpad, high speed Thunderbolt 3 ports, and of course macOS Mojave in a beautiful, thinner, lighter, all-aluminium design that a whole new generation of MacBook Air customers are going to love.”

MacBook Air comes in gold, silver and space grey colour options.

The hardware starts at £1,199 and delivers a 1.6GHz dual-core processor with a turbo boost up to 3.6GHz

and 128GB of storage.

But a second model of the product climbs to £1,399 and features the same internals but packs 256GB of memory.

However, just like with other Mac models, the MacBook Air can be configured further on Apple’s website.

Customers can choose to more RAM and storage.

The new MacBook Air with the highest-specced internals has 16GB of DDR3 memory and a 1.5TB SSD.

This can be purchased for a whopping £2,579.
