Jimmy Butler reveals how he silenced LeBron James and Lakers in Timberwolves’ NBA win

Butler produced a stunning display for the Timberwolves as they claimed a 124-120 win last night.

The forward was in devastating form in the fourth quarter, making five of his six three-pointer attempts that ultimately proved to be the difference.

While four-time MVP James scored 29 points and made 10 rebounds, seven assists and two steals, it wasn’t enough as the Lakers fell just short.

Brandon Ingram – who was making his return to action after serving a suspension – was also effective for the Lakers with 24 points and he made nine of his 18 field goal attempts.

But Butler has explained that the Wolves’ strong defense kept out James and co.

When asked for his thoughts on his display, Butler said: “I just made a couple of shots.

“That’s just what it comes down to.

“They’re [Lakers] are a really good team. Got young guys and obviously LeBron.

“They’re talented and made shots, but we played a little bit of defense at the end.”

When quizzed about his partnership with Derrick Rose, Butler added: “Derrick is so important.

“I love playing with him.

“He’s a high energy guy and he plays his role to a T.

“He can still score with the basketball and we need that from him every night.”
