Mexican Grand Prix LIVE: Updates as Lewis Hamilton aims to seal 2018 F1 title

There are just three races left in the 2018 season with Lewis Hamilton now on the verge of winning back-to-back championships.

But Red Bull have threatened to steal the show all weekend in Mexico, having much more speed around the circuit than Mercedes and Ferrari.

Max Verstappen looked as though he would become the youngest ever pole-sitter in qualifying after a scintillating lap in the first run of Q3.

But he was outdone by Daniel Ricciardo in a thrilling final run with both Red Bulls locking out the front row.

Hamilton sits just behind them in third while Sebastian Vettel will be alongside his rival on the grid in fourth.

It promises to be a fascinating race with the possibility of seeing Hamilton crowned the 2018 champion.

6:50pm: There is a bit of deja vu for Hamilton after he won the 2017 title at the Mexican Grand Prix.

It wasn’t all plain sailing for the 33-year-old that time around though as he collided with Sebastian Vettel on the opening lap, but a ninth-placed finish proved enough. He will be hoping to avoid a similar situation this time around though.

6:40pm: Hello, good evening and welcome to Express Sport’s live blog for the Mexican Grand Prix where the 2018 championship could finally be decided with Lewis Hamilton closing in on a fifth world title.
