Epic Games have been providing waves of new challenges as part of the Fortnite Fortnitemares Halloween event.
And the third set appeared to have a big Fortnite bug that was allowing players to accumulate battle stars, instead of XP.
This was reportedly available to help rank up normal battle passes, with some fans reporting the Fortnite glitch rewarding upwards of 350 battle stars.
The Fortnitemares Challenge 3 bug was available for several hours but now appears to have been fixed by Epic Games.
“This was literally a Fortnitemare to Epic,” one Reddit user comments.
While another adds: “In all fairness, it does suck being one of those who missed out. But these things tend to happen in games from time-to-time.
“It really is all about who is online at that moment.”
The games company posted an announcement on the subject, confirming that they had launched a new update to solve the bug.
The good news is that Epic Games are not planning to remove the battle stars earned through using the glitch.
The bad news is that the exploit is no longer available and means there will be a lot of people who are now behind others in the battle pass.
“We have just released a fix for some of the Part 3 Fortnitemares challenges that were granting Battle Stars instead of XP,” Epic Games confirms.
“Please be aware, the UI will still show the reward as Battle Stars until the next update. This was our goof and you will keep everything you’ve already earned.”
During Fortnitemares, players can face off against Cube Monsters in a whole new way of playing Battle Royale.
There are new weapons like the Six Shooter and Fiend Hunter Crossbow to use to take out the Cube Fiends and Fragments and pick up loot.
These are the first set of challenges:
- Destroy Cube Monsters
- Deal damage with Assault Rifles or Pistols to Cube Monsters
- Visit a Corrupted Area in different matches
- Dance at different Gargoyles
The second set of Fortnitemares challenges:
- Destroy Cube Fiends (150) – 500XP
- Deal damage with Shotguns or SMGs to Cube Monsters (5,000) – 500XP
- Eliminate Opponents in Corrupted Areas (3) – 500XP
- Destroy a Ghost Decoration in Different Named Locations (7) – 500XP
The third set of Fortnitemares challenges
- Destroy Cube Brutes (0/25)
- Deal damage with Explosive Weapons to Cube Monsters (0/2,000)Search Chests in Corrupted Areas (0/7)
- Stage 1/3: Visit Wailing Woods (0/5)
