Red Dead Redemption 2’s map is massive.
So the game’s developers Rockstar created the Companion App.
The Companion App connects to your PS4 or Xbox One while you play to deliver real-time interactive information to your smart device.
The Companion App can be used as a secondary map screen, allowing users to zoom in on the map, set waypoints and mark areas of interest in real time.
The map is a helpful tool considering how often you will need to refer to it
The app also displays your character Arthur Morgan’s core information and statistics in real-time on your device, allowing you to completely remove the in-game status bar from your screen should you choose.
The Companion additionally lets you examine Arthur’s in-game Journal, provides statistic tracking through Social Club, contains the full digital game manual, plus an optional digital version of the Red Dead Redemption 2 Complete Official Guide from Piggyback.
The app is available for download on October 26 on both iOS and Android.
When will Red Dead 2 Online be released?
Red Dead Online version does not yet have a release date – but the new beta version will be launched in the coming days.
Beta versions are used to rid the system of glitches, and problems online gameplay
The game’s developers will be looking to avoid the issues experienced in previous Online versions, such as Grand Theft Auto.
It is unclear whether there will be gap between the beta release of the multiplayer mode and a full launch.
Anyone who owns a copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 will receive access to the online mode.
Gamers who want access will need to first buy the game on Xbox One or PS4.
Deluxe editions of Red Dead are also available.
The Special Edition is priced at $80 (£62), and comes complete with a copy of the game along with special missions, weapons and a physical map of the game world for players to own.
There are also two additional packs for Red Dead Redemption 2 for premium prices: The Ultimate Edition and The Collector’s Box – both priced at $100 (£78).
The Ultimate Edition has all items from the special edition, including additional DLC items to acquire.
The Collector’s Box does not include any digital items, and instead offers special playing cards, artwork, a bandit’s bandana, a physical map of the game world, and a collector’s coin in the set.
When will Red Dead Redemption 2 Online be released?
A Red Dead Online beta will begin next month.
A release date has yet to be confirmed by Rockstar Games.
It is also unclear whether there will be any gap between the beta release and a full launch of the multiplayer mode.
Red Dead Online could generate huge amounts of revenue, meaning it would make financial to release the Red Dead Online beta as soon as possible.
Anyone who owns a Red Dead Redemption 2 will automatically receive access to the Online version.
