Man Utd news: Woodward makes Mourinho sack decision, dressing room protest, Neville rant

Woodward makes Mourinho sack decision

United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward will only sack Jose Mourinho if the Red Devils fail to finish in the top four.

The Manchester Evening News claim Woodward’s only focus is finishing in the top four.

They add that Woodward is fully focused on business at Old Trafford.

The United chief knows how much being in the Champions League benefits the Red Devils financially.

United player protest

United’s players have refused to do activities with sponsors.

The Daily Mail the dressing room protest is due to United’s stars being frustrated with travel arrangements before Champions League clashes.

United arrived late to both of their home Champions League games due to transport issues.

And the Mail say first-team players have snubbed sessions with commercial partners in protest.

Neville on Mourinho

Gary Neville says Jose Mourinho is wrong about United needing to splash the cash.

“After the game against Juventus, his comments – some would say they were honest as when I saw the two team sheets before the game, I thought they were two completely different worlds in terms of players,” Neville said.

“But it is not just money, a lot of money has been spent on that United team.

“The reality is the recruitment has been poor for four or five years. There has been no consistency, strategy behind the recruitment.

“You have three or four different managers and different styles of managers’ players in the same squad, where the club should always sign players that fits their profile.

“And then if the manager leaves, you will always have players who believe in the club system.

“At the moment, I do not see that.

“You have a collection of different players from different managers who believe in different things and Jose is trying to work them into a unit and he is finding it very difficult.”
