Durant put on an unstoppable display in the fourth quarter, dropping 25 points – a career high for any quarter.
Overall, the all-star finished on 41 points at Madison Square Garden – a season high.
While the Warriors were quieter in the third quarter, their final flourish ensured a 128-100 victory over the Knicks and kept up their perfect start to the campaign under Steve Kerr.
And when asked what was behind his devastating run, Durant said: “I just want to shoot good shots.
“I want to shoot shots that I practice every day and shoot with confidence.
“I just prepare right before the game, so when the lights turn on, I can be myself.
“My team-mates and coach stay with me and the fourth quarter got me going and glad we got the win.”
Durant admitted the Warriors were on fire in the last quarter, because they honed in on the simple things earlier on in the match.
He continued: “We got stops and we found a play that was working.
“I just tried to be aggressive to score.
“I thought our third quarter was pretty bad and I tried to give us a spark.
“I kind of us got going by making shots.”
On whether he minds the Warriors being the yardstick in the NBA, Durant added: “It’s good to be hunted and to get everybody’s best game and we want to keep plugging away.”
