‘I bear NO BLAME!’ Trump claims NO responsibility for actions of US mail bomb suspect

Speaking outside the White House on his way to a rally in North Carolina, the US President told reporters his “rhetoric” is not in any way responsible for the suspected actions of Cesar Sayoc.

He said: “There is no blame.

“There is no anything.

“If you look at what happened to Steve Scalise, that was from a supporter of a different party.

“If you look at what happened on — numerous of these incidents, they were supporters of others.”

He also noted that he will not contact former US President Barack Obama or any of the other people targeted by the bomber, saying he “will probably pass”.

The man suspected of sending at least a dozen pipe bombs to high-profile critics of US President is a 56-year-old registered Republican in Florida with a lengthy criminal history.

Public records show that Mr Sayoc has been arrested numerous times over the years, including one case in which he was accused of threatening to use a bomb.

Sayoc was taken into custody on Friday morning outside a car parts store in Plantation, Florida, federal authorities said.

Sayoc’s white van, which was seized by authorities, had numerous stickers showing President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, as well as a “CNN SUCKS” sign, according to a screenshot posted on Twitter by a CNN reporter.

Addressing supporters and media in Washington DC earlier today, Trump claimed the “incredible work” of all those involved in the quick investigation showed how “truly great” America is to the rest of the world.

The US President called on Americans to “unify” over political differences and to not allow political violence to take root in America.

He said: “I am pleased to inform you that law enforcement has apprehended the suspect and taken him into custody.

“We have carried out a far-reaching federal, state and local investigation to find the person or persons responsible for these events.

“These terrorising acts are despicable and have no place in our country. No place.”
