PSN status: PS4 server maintenance, as PlayStation Network goes DOWN

PSN servers appear to be offline for PS4 users.

Some PS4 owners are receiving maintenance messages when trying to login to the PlayStation Network.

Hundreds of reports have been registered on Down Detector, which monitors service outages.

Sony has acknowledged the issue on Twitter, telling PS4 users that it is looking into the problem.

“A small number of players are experiencing PSN connectivity problems,” reads a Sony tweet.

“Our engineers are currently investigating this. Thanks for your patience.”

Some PSN users have taken to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction with the situation.

“Playstation servers down for the moment,” reads one tweet.

“Is PlayStation network down? Having difficulties logging in,” another Twitter user writes.

“Any idea on down time for PlayStation network? It’s saying undergoing maintenance but on your website it’s saying everything okay?” a post reads.

“Apparently PSN is down for maintenance,” speculates another.

“Lol why the second i walk in the door #PSN is down.”

“Way to make it so I can’t play my games. #psndown …at least fix the status of ps services so I can see you know its messed up. #PSN”

Fans will be hoping PSN is up and running for when Red Dead Redemption 2 launches later tonight.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has an October 26 release date on PlayStation and Xbox.

Digital pre-order customers will be able to play the game from midnight tonight in the UK.

If you have pre-ordered the game then it’s worth pre-loading ahead of launch.

Physical and digital copies of the game weigh in at a bumper 99GB on PS4 and a gargantuan 107GB on Xbox One.
