Khashoggi murder: Shock new footage of killers released – is this journalist’s body?

The journalist’s murder has sparked a global outcry and the Saudis have given conflicting accounts of what happened to him.

On October 2, he walked into the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul and he never left.

Saudi officials have claimed Mr Khashoggi died accidentally in a fight during an unauthorised overseas kidnapping operation.

However, these security camera images broadcast by CNN Turk could challenge Riyadh’s account of the 59-year-old’s murder.

The Turkish authorities have been investigating a well in the garden of Saudi Arabia’s consulate as part of the investigation.

The Turkey officials believe the journalist, a critic of the Saudi government, was killed by Saudi agents inside the building,

They have not accepted Saudi’s efforts to blame rogue operatives for the murder and urged Riyadh to search “top to bottom” to find out who was responsible.

However, the international community has rejected this Saudi explanation and the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said there is strong evidence to suggest the attack was “premeditated”.

On Tuesday, Turkish police found clothes, a laptop and other personal items in an abandoned diplomatic car registered to the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

Mr Erdogan has said: “We seek justice and this will be revealed in all its naked truth, not through some ordinary steps but in all its naked truth.”

President Donald Trump has said that if anyone in Saudi Arabia knew about what had happened, “it would be” the crown prince.

In the US he wrote a monthly column in the Washington Post in which he criticised the policies of Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman.

Saudi Energy Minister Khalid Al Falih said on Wednesday: “It’s not a death, it’s a murder. We admit it, we’re dealing with it. As such, we will be transparent and show our allies and friends in the United States … that the kingdom is as unhappy about what has happened as anybody else.

“In fact, we are more unhappy because it has tarnished the name of the kingdom.”
