Saudi prince on Khashoggi: ‘I WON’T allow wedge to form between Saudi Arabia and Turkey’

Dubbed the “worst cover-up ever” by US President Donald Trump, the royal, who has been accused of being involved in the shocking killing, spoke at an investment conference in Riyadh, which went ahead despite boycotts from high-profile participants that pulled out as result of the murder.

Speaking publicly for the first time since Mr Khashoggi’s body parts such as his face, was found in the garden of the Saudi Consul General’s garden 500 metres from the Consulate building in Istanbul the slain writer entered on October 2 before he vanished, the Crown Prince said the “heinous” crime “cannot be justified”.

He added: “I will not allow a wedge to form between Saudi Arabia and Turkey.”

He also said Saudi Arabia will cooperate with Turkey’s investigation.

After weeks of speculation, officials have now confirmed the journalist’s body has been discovered as an investigation into his death got underway.

Dogu Perincek, leader of Turkey’s Rodina party, also said in an interview his body parts were discovered in Istanbul during forensic searches.

And a ‘highly placed’ source told Sky News the writer had been “cut up” and his face “disfigured.”

The 57-year-old was last seen entering the Saudi Arabia consulate in Istanbul early October.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the person who ordered the death of the prominent Saudi journalist must “be brought to account”.

Yesterday, Mr Khashoggi’s son Salah bin Jamal Khashoggi, shook hands with the Crown Prince after being summoned to Riyadh’s Yamama Palace.

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman was also present, with photographers and a film crew, as the royals attempted to mend their image with publicised condolences to the grieving family.
