Pokemon Go Halloween UPDATE: Gen 4 Ghost-type and Special Research CONFIRMED

‘s inevitable Halloween event may have just been leaked by fans.

Pokemon Go dataminer Chrales has found evidence of a brand new Special Research task for Halloween.

And it looks like the Special Research task will revolve around Gen 4 Ghost-type Pokemon Spiritomb.

The quest dialogue suggests that players will need to capture a whopping 108 Pokemon to unlock the reward and catch a Spiritomb.

Other leaks hint at spooky new items from the in-game shop, such as a Gengar backpack, a Drifblim shirt and Mismagius hat.

Fans will also be hoping to see some of the Gen 4 Ghost-type Pokemon featured in the gallery below.

The Pokemon Go Halloween event is expected to start in the coming days.

The 2017 Halloween event kicked off on Friday, October 20, so it stands to reason that a launch is imminent.

And a new Halloween event means new Ghost-type Pokemon to find and catch.

Gen 4 Ghost Pokemon include Drifloon, Mismagius, Dusknoir, Froslass, Spiritomb and Drifblim.

Rotom also appears in Gen 4, although this particular Pocket Monster comes in many different forms. It’s unclear if Niantic will introduce Rotom now, or stagger the release of its different forms.

It’s possible that Ghost and Dragon Legendary Pokemon Giratina could make an appearance during a special Halloween Raid.

Giratina was seen at the end of the Gen 4 Sinnoh trailer, so a release date can’t be too far away.

Last year’s event coincided with the release of Gen 3 Pokemon such as Shuppet, Banette, Sableye, Duskull and Dusclops.

Fans were also treated to a special limited time Pikachu, not to mention bonus Candy from hatching, catching and transferring Pokemon.
