During this event, it seems Professor Willow will need your help on some limited-time Special Research. Complete Special Research tasks and find out before whatever it is goes away! You’ll also be able to enjoy Field Research featuring Ghost-type and Dark-type Pokémon throughout the event.

Plus, the Renegade Pokémon, Giratina, will make its first appearance in Raid Battles! This Ghost- and Dragon-type Legendary Pokémon originally discovered in the Sinnoh region has emerged from the Distortion World for an extended time, so challenge it before it leaves on November 20 at 1:00 p.m. PST!

Feeling extra creepy and kooky? New avatar items featuring Ghost-type Pokémon are now available in the Style Shop! From a Drifloon Cap to a Gengar Backpack, you can show your love for these Pokémon all year round.

Steel your nerves and get ready for some strange and scary fun times! Stay safe, and happy exploring!

Pokemon Go fans are getting some exciting new Halloween 2018 tasks and rewards, which could be starting very soon on Android and iOS.

It’s now been confirmed that at least one new Special Research task is being launched by Niantic for players to complete.

This was revealed earlier today by data miners, who have shared the first details about the upcoming 2018 event.

According to the game’s network traffic, a new Halloween Quest will be available to complete in October.

This will include the follow tasks: Catch {0} Poochyena or Houndour, Catch {0} Dark-type Pokémon, Catch {0} Ghost-type Pokémon, Evolve {0} Duskull or Shuppet, Transfer {0} Pokémon.

This new special research will end in the release of a new Gen 4 Ghost Pokemon, known as Spiritomb.

It was expected that the new wave of Gen 4 Pokemon would be launched as part of Halloween, and this is the first evidence of something new coming our way.

Both a Ghost and Dark type Pokemon, Spiritomb is a Pocket Monster that was formed by 108 spirits. It is bound to a fissure in an odd keystone.

That’s according to the official Pokemon Pokedex and is expected to go live sometime in October.

No release date has leaked with the new information but it appears we must only be days away from launch.

Finding information like this in network traffic points to some big new Pokemon Go news being announced by Niantic very soon.

New cosmetic items are also being released as part of Halloween 2018, including a Gengar backpack, shirt and hat combo.

Other items found in the network includes a Drifloon hat, Drifblim shirt, Mismagius hat and a Spiritomb shirt.

Fans can also expect new Pokemon seasonal Boxes to be released, which include varying item bundles.

It fair to say that Niantic probably has more surprises planned, as well as some bonuses and rewards.

Here’s the official description from the new Special Research, found by data miners this week and shared by the Pokemon Go Hub:

“As I was out on my regular walk one evening, I stumbled upon this odd stone. Something told me to bring it back to my lab for further research, and ever since then, strange things have been happening.”

“Papers shifting around, water glasses tipping all by themselves… When I tried using my computer to research it, I got an error message with the number 108 flashing! %PLAYERNAME%, can you help gather some data on nearby Ghost-type Pokemon? I have to believe we can solve these spooky occurrences with science!”

“%PLAYERNAME%, thanks so much for your help. I did some research on Ghost-type Pokemon, and I think there’s a Ghost- and Dark-type Pokemon that is bound to a strange stone.”

“I can’t say for sure just yet, but it seems this Pokemon may actually be composed of 108 spirits bound together. So maybe if we catch 108 Pokemon, it will appear?”

“Good luck, %PLAYERNAME%! And…would you keep the light on in the lab for me? All this spooky research is making my hair stand on end.”

Pokemon Go Halloween 2018 news is expected to be announced over the coming days by developer, Niantic and the Pokemon Company.
