Fortnite update notes for 6.20: Epic Games downtime and Fortnitemares release news

Epic Games has now confirmed their plans for server downtime today for Fortnite Battle Royale and Fortnite Save the World.

Scheduled maintenance will begin tomorrow, October 24, at around 9am in the UK.

It means that the new Fortnite update will be released afterwards and will include the new Fortnitemares event.

Scheduled maintenance usually takes a few hours, so the new Fortnite Halloween event could be live by around 11am in the UK.

The Fortnite update notes released by Epic Games today confirm that Patch 6.20 will include at least one major change.

The development team are now experimenting with how glider works and if they can improve mobility across the island.

“In the v6.20 update, we’ll be adding the glider re-deploy mechanic from Soaring 50’s into all game modes,” a statement from Epic Games reads.

“You’ll be able to hop into a Solo, Duo or Squad match as per usual, but now you will be able to re-deploy your glider when you are at least three stories high.

However, unlike other major updates to gameplay, the new glider mechanic is just an experiment.

Epic Games will only be running it as a test for the next week, so it could disappear by the end of October.

“We’re testing how providing a singular mobility mechanic that all players can use will affect regular gameplay,” Epic Games adds.

“We’re planning to run this for a week. Drop in, try it out, let us know what you think!”

Fortnitemares will be another major piece of the new Fortnite update going live today.

This will be a new in-game event which is bound to bring its own challenges and cosmetics.

There’s also a good chance that a Halloween-themed LTM will be added on October 24.

Something connected with zombies and guns looks set to be added to the game very soon.

This is based on the various hints that have been dropped by Epic Games this week.

You can expect patch notes to be shared soon after downtime begins tomorrow, which will include all the major news.

This is likely to contain everything you need to know about Fortnitemares 2018 and any others made by Epic Games.

Epic Games is investigating an issue with crosshairs being blocked for certain outfits while aiming.

Elsewhere, Player models in Replays are sometimes getting stuck with Shadow Stone effects. There’s also a problem with music for certain emotes not playing.

The Battle Royale developer will also lay the foundations for the Beta Tournament, which runs from October 23 until October 25.

The Beta Tournament shifts the focus to duos and will be followed by the weekly Friday tournament.
