Red Dead Redemption 2 UPDATE: Bad news for PC fans before PS4 and Xbox One release

A recent retail listing gave PC gamers hope that a Red Dead Redemption 2 release date could be pencilled in for the platform.

The listing spotted by fans in Europe appeared to show the epic Western coming to PC in 2019.

And while it looked like a placeholder, it certainly fits in with the idea that Rockstar Games will launch the game on that platform in the future.

For the record, Rockstar has only confirmed PS4 and Xbox One as platforms for Red Dead Redemption 2.

And it appears that it will stay that way, at least for the foreseeable future.

While PS4 and Xbox gamers can look forward to the Red Dead Redemption 2 release date arriving at the end of this week, PC players won’t be so lucky.

That’s because the online retailer, MediaMarkt, the Swedish website that listed the PC version, has now commented on the original posting.

In a new statement released to WCCFtech, the retailer confirms that it was a mere placeholder based on the retailer’s own belief that Red Dead 2 will come to PC in the future.

“It’s true we had the RDR2 PC version listed,” the retailer’s rep explains.

“I checked this with the games department at our HQ and got told that it’s something of a placeholder and that they count on it being announced sometime in the future (just as with GTA V for example).

“It is no longer listed as available for pre-purchase, though.”

While it makes sense that Red Dead Redemption 2 will eventually arrive on PC, it seems a little premature to post anything on it.

The PC version of GTA 5 was launched in 2015, nearly two years after its original release.

So if Rockstar Games were to follow suit, there wouldn’t be a port for PC until at least 2020.

In other RDR2 related news, Rockstar has now confirmed the full size of their new game.

Fans now know the official file size on both Xbox One and PS4, and it isn’t the best news.

Players of RDR2 will need to find 107GB on Xbox One and 99GB of room on PS4.

That’s massive, especially if you consider that the original consoles only shipped with 500GB hard drives.

There no help if you’re installing from disc either, with both sizes confirmed at the same rate, however, you’re playing
