US Grand Prix F1 LIVE STREAM: How to watch Formula One from Austin live online

Lewis Hamilton could become world champion for a fifth time today if he can finish the US Grand Prix with eight more points than Sebastian Vettel.

And, the British racer couldn’t be in a better position having secured pole in yesterday’s qualifying.

To help boost his chances further, Vettel sits fifth on the grid having suffered a penalty for now slowing sufficiently during a red flag in practice.

If Hamilton wins in Austin, Vettel must finish second to keep his championship hopes alive.

It could be a classic race with the Mercedes and Ferraris are very evenly matched with the top three all with 0.1 seconds of each other.

Speaking after qualifying, Hamilton said: “That was close. I didn’t know how close it was going to be but by the last run I knew it was quite edgy.

“I knew I had to do solid laps. The first lap was decent but not good enough and the second one was just that bit better. The Ferraris were really quick.”

Here’s how they line up for today’s race.

Pole – Lewis Hamilton • 2nd Kimi Raikkonen 3rd • Valtteri Bottas • 4th Daniel Ricciardo • 5th Sebastian Vettel (after 3 place penalty)
