Jeff Bezos net worth: What is the Amazon founder’s fortune and how does he spend it?

Jess Bezos, 54, is a technology entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist.

He is the founder, chairman and CEO of Amazon, the biggest online retail platform in the world.

This year, Amazon became the second company in the world to be worth $1 trillion dollars, with Jeff’s personal net worth more than doubling.

He is now the richest man in the world, but how rich actually is he?

According to Forbes, Jeff has an eye-watering net worth of £145.4 billion, according to Forbes.

Jeff graduated from Princeton University in 1987, and after being offered jobs at Intel, Bell Labs and Anderson Consulting, took a job at Fitel, a financial communications startup.

He was quickly promoted, breaking into the banking industry and working as a project manager and hedgefund manager.

In 1993, Jeff decided to start an online bookstore, founding Amazon in his garage in 1994.

Fast forward 24 years later and Amazon is the second company in history to be worth $1 trillion, after Apple.

Along with his Amazon empire, the 54-year-old also founded Blue Origin, a human spaceflight startup company.

Making the most of his cash, in 2013 he purchased the Washington Post for $250 million

He also supports a number of non-profit projects through his foundation, Bezos Expeditions, and donates to cancer research charities and other projects.

When it comes to spending his fortune, Jeff has splurged on many things, including five properties across the US.

One of these estates is in Medina, Washington, near Amazon’s Seattle headquarters.

He also owns a Spanish-style mansion in Beverly Hills, California, a townhouse in Washington DC, three condos in the same New York building and a ranch in Van Horn Texas.

However, when it comes to cars Jeff is a little less extravagant. According to the book “The Everything Store”, Jeff drove a Honda Accord as recently as 2013.

He does though own a $65 million Gulfstream G650ER private jet.

Just like fellow billionaires Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, Jeff has pledged to leave the majority of his fortune to charity.

Jeff overtook Microsoft founder Bill Gates as the richest man in the world in September last year.

With a similar property portfolio and taste for private jets, how much is Bill now worth?
