Liverpool news: Why Jurgen Klopp was frustrated by Huddersfield display

Klopp’s side ran out 1-0 winners at the John Smith’s Stadium in Saturday’s evening kick-off courtesy of Mohamed Salah’s fourth Premier League goal of the season.

But they rode their luck at times against the struggling Terriers and might have conceded a penalty after James Milner appeared to handle in the area.

Liverpool remain level on points with leaders Manchester City but have an inferior goal difference by ten after City hammered Burnley 5-0 earlier on Saturday afternoon.

And Klopp admits he was not impressed with his side’s display.

“It was a good game from Huddersfield and not so good game from us. So we’ll take it,” he said.

“I sometimes look frustrated on the touchline even if were winning.

“The performance wasn’t 100% it looked like we could have scored in six or seven situations but we needed one better pass.

“We did lots of good things and then the last pass wasn’t good.

“How can I explain that? I need to look back at the game. The players weren’t great with their last pass.”

The game saw Klopp go up against former colleague David Wagner.

The pair worked together at Borussia Dortmund when Klopp was the manager and Wagner was in charge of the reserve team.

Wagner’s side are rooted to the bottom of the table, having failed to score at home all season or pick up a single win.

But Klopp thinks it is only a matter of time before his friend turns things around.

He added: “I watch most of Huddersfield’s game and they’ve played Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham, Leicester, Everton.

“That is the hardest fixture list I’ve heard about.”
