LeBron James drops Carmelo Anthony trade hint: ‘We have had conversations’

James has been good friends with Anthony since their junior days and the pair became free agents this summer.

James found a new home with the Lakers as he penned a blockbuster four-year deal, while Anthony joined Houston Rockets.

The duo are set to go head-to-head tonight at the Staples Centre with both teams hunting their first win of the season.

And ahead of the match, James hinted he spoke to Anthony about joining him at the Lakers during pre-season.

“There was a lot of conversations between basketball, between life,” James replied when asked if he spoke to Anthony about a prospective trade.

“We have a lot of conversations. We talk all the time.”

James is looking forward to lining up against Anthony tonight because of the close relationship they have.

“He meant a lot. Obviously me and Melo have been very good friends before any of the NBA spotlight and everything,” James added.

“For a quite a while now we have talked about our journeys throughout the whole thing, no matter what cities we have been in.

“There has always been that brotherhood between us. It’s weird that one of my first NBA homes games in the NBA was against Melo too, when he was at Denver [Nuggets] and I was at Cleveland [Cavaliers].

“We have always had that direct correlation between us in our careers so far.”

Meanwhile, James recently explained how he is still adjusting to playing with his new team-mates.

“As we all continue to work with one another, we’ll get better,” he said.

“It’s still early. We’re literally less than a month in (from the start of training camp.)

“And so it’s still early, you still got to go through some things.

“You go through some adversity and see how guys react to it.

“See what gets guys going. To me, it’s an everyday thing.”
