‘It would be difficult to turn down’: Does this mean Harry Maguire is off to Man Utd?

Manchester United were heavily linked with a move for the Leicester defender in the summer following his impressive World Cup for Gareth Southgate’s England.

United boss Jose Mourinho was left frustrated when Old Trafford chiefs baulked at Leicester’s asking price and any potential deal fell through.

But Maguire has hinted he is open to a move if a club like United were to renew their interest in him.

When asked if he would consider joining one of the big boys by Gary Lineker on The premier League Show, he said: ”Yes, definitely it would be a difficult one.

“If you’re not an ambitious footballer, you’re in the wrong game really.

“Everyone wants to play at the top level, everyone wants to play in the biggest tournaments in the world, so obviously the Champions League is one.”

Maguire has been one of Leicester’s key performers again this season, making eight appearances and scoring two goals.

And while he insists he is concentrating fully on playing well for his club for the time being, the 25-year-old said he was open to a switch in the future.

“I want to concentrate fully on Leicester this year,” he added. “See where it takes the club and see where we go from there,” he added.

“The platform they gave me to go and play at a World Cup is something I’ll never forget, so it’s a big part of me wanting to show something back.

“Since I made my debut at Sheffield United I felt like I could step on and climb the leagues.

“Signing for Leicester, they gave me a great platform to go and play for England as well.

“My main aim is to be playing week in, week out in the Premier League and to get picked for England. However, I do want to win trophies.

“I want to win trophies with my country and I want to win trophies at club level.”
