Officers were called to reports of a row between a 25-year-old man and his mother.
Two plain-clothes police officers reportedly shot and killed the man as he tried to attack her with scissors.
Both suffered serious stab wounds after responding to the horror incident.
The prosecutor said the officers used a firearm to ward off “the attacks directed against them.
The mother is understood to have died from her injuries shortly after.
The cause of death of the woman is currently unknown.
The woman is understood to have reported her son to police.
She claimed her son was raging, had psychotic behaviours, was under the influence of drugs and had attacked her, according to local reports.
