Students feed classmates grandparent’s cremated ASHES in laced cookie batch

At least nine high school pupils ate the cookies before it was known what was inside them.

The teenage bakers then revealed their grisly ingredients to shocked youngsters at Da Vinci Charter Academy, west of Sacramento, California.

One classmate Andy Knox told KCRA television station: “I didn’t believe her until she pulled out the urn. She told me there’s a special ingredient in the cookie. I was kind of horrified.”

Another pupil told Fox 40: “This girl is going around telling everyone, basically at this point, that she had brought in these cookies to school with human ashes in them.”

The stomach churning baking was thought to have been carried out by two youngsters.

Police are investigating, but are not sure whether the pupils can be prosecuted and it is unlikely they will be prosecuted.

Davis Police lieutenant Paul Doroshov told The Sacramento Bee it would “probably take some legal debate to figure out”.

He admitted the pair probably would not be prosecuted, and said it was a school issue.

In a letter to parents, headteacher Tyler Millsap said the pair were sorry and that it had become a “personal family matter”.

He said: “I can say that those who were involved are remorseful and this is now a personal family matter and we want to respect the privacy of the families involved.”

No health implications had been reported, but Lieutenant Doroshov said “there could be some emotional issues experienced”.

There is not a health risk to the wider community, headmaster Mr Millsap said.

He added: “We always take allegations of wrongdoing seriously and we conduct thorough investigations and involve the police or other entities when appropriate.”

Da Vinci Academy is in a small town called Davis, just west of Sacramento.
