Pokemon Go news: Gen 4 first wave and first shiny evolution reveal

Trainers have been busy tracking down the first wave of Gen 4 Pokemon that can be caught.

Niantic decided to launch the big update this week, although not all Pocket Monsters can be found running around in the Pokemon Go wild.

It appears that there are around 24 new Pokemon to catch this week, some of which can only be found in eggs.

And another big bonus that has been discovered by Trainers is that there is at least three new Shiny Pokemon to catch.

For anyone that doesn’t know, a shiny Pokemon is a rare variant that boasts its own unique colour scheme.

They don’t provide any stat boosts, and they remain completely cosmetic in their difference to other Pokemon.

But they are popular with collectors, and it appears there are a few more to look out for this week.

According to players checking out the new raids, Shiny Shinx’s have been added to the game.

So there’s a low chance that when you encounter Shinx in a raid, it will sport its own unique colour scheme.

But while there may only be one shiny new Pokemon to find, you can also evolve Shinx into Luxio, and then into Luxray.

So in total, there are actually three new Shiny Pokemon to add to your collection.

But some Trainers aren’t so pleased to hear the news, with one Reddit comment explaining:

“They put the only shiny behind the egg and raid wall. That’s kind of upsetting.

“When Mawhile and Absol were released in Raid only format people were livid.

“It’s upsetting to see people more willing to accept this. Using some rough math 25% of mons can’t be found in the wild now. A year ago that number was 3%-5%.”

Currently, Pokemon Go has only introduced 24 out of the 107 Pokemon from the Sinnoh region and that includes evolutions.

The other Pokemon that haven’t been released yet will come in waves, so it looks like Trainers will be waiting until December before they get access to the majority of the new Pokemon.

There’s also the chance that some Legendary and special types will be held back for special events.

Will new Ghost and Dark-type Pokemon be made available during Halloween? It seems likely this will be Niantic’s plan.
