Google Maps is the American tech giant’s navigation software that is available on desktops in addition to Android and iOS devices.
New features are consistently added to the app thanks to updates from Google.
The latest upgrade from the tech giant has added the locations of electric vehicle charging stations to Google Maps.
Such a feature will surely be extremely helpful for those that own electric cars.
Explaining the update, Google said: “We built Google Maps to help people get where they need to go no matter what mode of transportation they use.
“Our newest feature brings helpful information about electric vehicle (EV) charging stations to the Map, so you can be confident that your car will be charged and ready for your ride, wherever you’re headed.”
Google explained the new feature can be harnessed by entering relevant keywords into the Maps search bar.
That means if users type “EV charging” or “EV charging stations”, relevant information will be displayed.
Google continued: “To help you make a quick decision about which station to use, we’ll show you information about the business where the station is located, the types of ports available, charging speeds, and how many ports there are.
“You’ll also see information about the station from drivers, including photos, ratings, reviews and questions.
“In addition, businesses that have charging stations will now feature a link to information about the chargers.”
Google outlined the specific charging stations that can be located in different territories.
Globally, Tesla and Chargepoint stations will be displayed while users in the US can also see the locations of SemaConnect, EVgo and Blink points.
Meanwhile, those in the UK can also track the whereabouts of Chargemaster and Pod Point stations.
The helpful new update is available now for both Android and iOS hardware.
The feature is not yet present on the desktop version of Google Maps.
However, the Mountain View firm will be adding the fresh functionality to computers in the “coming weeks”.
If your Google Maps application has not received the new update, users can download it manually by heading to either the Google Play Store of iOS App Store.
