PlayStation Plus PS4 games: Do you need PS Plus to play Black Ops 4?

Like many games on Sony’s PS4, there’s the question of how much of Call of Duty Black Ops 4 is playable offline.

Unlike previous instalments, BO4 does not contain a single-player campaign, meaning a massive chunk of offline gameplay is missing this year.

Activision and Treyarch switched from developing a single-player experience to the new Blackout mode.

Blackout is the Call of Duty version of Battle Royale, which has proven very popular with fans.

There’s plenty of good stuff to point out about this year’s Call of Duty launch, including how well the servers have been holding up.

And while there isn’t a campaign to play offline, fans can enjoy Zombies mode via couch co-op, or solo.

Zombies mode is the most substantial piece of Black Ops 4 that can be played in this way, with most other things requiring an online connection.

DO YOU NEED PS PLUS TO PLAY BLACK OPS 4?

Sony has confirmed on the game’s PlayStation Store page that it does indeed require a PS Plus account.

If you don’t have a PlayStation Plus subscription, you will not be able to play online multiplayer, a vast chunk of the BO4 experience.

“Full game requires PlayStation®Plus subscription to access online multiplayer,” the Sony message confirms.

There may have been some confusion as the beta of Black Ops 4 that ran earlier this year didn’t require PS Plus.

However, this is not the case for the full game and fans should be aware of the extra cost.

In other Call of Duty related news, it’s been confirmed that the Call of Duty Endowment program has reached its goal of funding the placement of 50,000 veterans into high-quality jobs ahead of schedule.

Now, the Endowment is doubling down with a new goal of securing placements for a total of 100,000 veterans by 2024.

This includes veterans in the United States and United Kingdom finding opportunities with companies including Amazon, Apple, Bank of America, Deloitte, Delta, IBM, Lockheed Martin, Microsoft, Nike, and SpaceX.

“The Call of Duty Endowment has exceeded expectations and continues to benefit the lives of veterans and their families, significantly giving back to those who sacrificed for others,” said Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard and co-founder of the Endowment.

“With U.S. and U.K. veteran unemployment and underemployment challenges persisting, I am thrilled to continue our efforts with an ambitious goal of securing employment for 100,000 veterans by 2024.”

When the Call of Duty Endowment was established in 2009, its initial goal was to identify and fund organisations to place 25,000 U.S. veterans in jobs by the end of 2018.

That goal was met two years early and was subsequently revised to place 50,000 veterans into high-quality jobs by 2019.

“The Call of Duty Endowment is making a remarkable impact in the lives of our veterans,” said General James L. Jones (USMC, Ret.), Co-Chairman of the Endowment. “High-quality, meaningful employment is imperative to their successful transition back to civilian life, and the Endowment’s focus on these efforts is unmatched.”
