Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho doing this WRONG thing at Manchester United – Champion

That is the verdict of Premier League commentator and ESPN FC pundit Jon Champion.

Mourinho’s future at Manchester United is still uncertain after a turbulent start to the season on and off the pitch.

The Red Devils have lost three of their first eight Premier League games of the campaign and are already seven points off the top of the table.

Mourinho’s relationship with certain players has also been a topic of discussion, most notably with midfielder Paul Pogba.

Jose Mourinho stripped Pogba of the vice-captaincy last month and was caught on camera having an apparent confrontation with the France World Cup winner on the training ground.

But Champion says Mourinho brings all the negativity on himself by making the club all about him.

“I would contend that Mourinho makes himself the target, he makes himself the lightning conductor,” Champion said on ESPN FC.

“If Mourinho is manager of your club, it’s all about him.

“You can’t be like that I don’t think at one of the leading clubs, a revered institution.

“I’ve been quite uncomfortable in recent days and weeks watching some of Mourinho’s antics, which I think is probably the best way to describe them and the way he has choreographed certain situations, like the one we saw at Carrington, the training ground, with the supposed contretemps with Paul Pogba.

“Make no mistake, if you turn up with a TV camera at Carrington, you struggle to get any footage normally.

“So for a TV camera to turn up on a day where supposedly there is a window of open training and get the footage that they’ve got is not by accident.

“So someone is allowing that to happen.

“That person, for me, is Mourinho and therefore he’s bringing upon himself the sort of negative attention that is coming his way.

“He’s always out there, it’s always about him.

“So when the news is not good that sticks to him as well as when it’s good.”
