Chelsea news: Cesc Fabregas transfer takes fresh twist… who will he join?

Fabregas has been a fringe player under Maurizio Sarri this term, making just three appearances, with two of them coming in the Europa League.

Last month, reported that Fabregas could be at the centre of a transfer battle in January between AC Milan and Inter Milan.

Fabregas has less than a year left to run on his present deal and it is thought that the Spaniard would be a potential alternative if they fail in their pursuit of Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric.

Inter may go after Modric once again, however according to the Daily Mirror, Fabregas is on Atletico’s radar.

Should they make a move, they could sign him on a pre-contract agreement when the transfer window reopens.

Despite not being a permanent fixture for the Blues, Fabregas was effusive in his praise for Sarri.

“Touching the ball 100 times, all the play going through me or Jorginho is a very important way of playing for the manager,” .

“I’m learning it, I’m very passionate about it, it’s very interesting.

“The way he sees football is something that maybe in the future if I become a coach I would do something very similar to what he does. It’s what I like and how I see football.

“It’s really interesting how he works and I’m looking forward to working for a long time with him.

“I wish he had come a bit earlier to be honest.

“It’s a little bit late now in my career. But definitely I’m very happy with him.

“I feel sensations under Sarri that I never thought I would feel again.”
