The deal announced by the Braves on Monday includes a club option for the 2021 season. Financial terms were not disclosed, but USA Today reported in August Snitker’s 2018 salary was $800,000, tied for lowest-paid MLB manager with Alex Cora (Boston) and Scott Servais (Seattle).

Snitker, who turns 63 on Wednesday, took over as Atlanta’s manager on an interim basis in May 2016, replacing Fredi Gonzalez.

The 2019 season will be his 43rd with the organization. He started as a player in the minor leagues in 1977.

This season, he led the Braves to the National League East championship, their first division title since 2013, with a 90-72 record. The Braves lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Division Series.

His overall managerial record is 221-227. Since Snitker became interim manager, the Braves have won an MLB-best 57 games in their final at-bat.
