World War 3: Iran brands US most hostile in 40 YEARS as Trump team branded ‘SPITEFUL’

President Hassan Rouhani said the current administration is seeking a “regime change” as tensions have increased between the two countries after US President Donald Trump  withdrew its nuclear deal with Iran in May.

He said in a speech broadcasted on state TV: “In the past 40 years there has not been a more spiteful team than the current US government toward Iran, Iranians and the Islamic Republic.

“There was a time when there was one person who had enmity. The rest were moderate.

“Now the worst have gathered around each other.”

Mr Rouhani went on to accuse Americans of using psychological and economic warfare to question the legitimacy of the Islamic Republic.

He added: “Reducing the legitimacy of the system is their final goal. When they getting rid of, regime change in their own words, how does regime change happen?

“Through reducing legitimacy, otherwise a regime doesn’t change.”

The Iranian president deliberately said “regime change” in English to emphasise his point.

After Mr Trump withdrew from the multilateral agreement he reintroduced steps against Iran’s currency trade, metals and auto sectors in August.

Additional curbs on Iran’s oil exports are set to come in to full force starting in November leaving some Iranians to fear their country is entering an economic slump.

It could prove to be worse than the economic conditions from 2012 to 2015, when the country last faced major sanctions.

However, Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri played down potential impact of the planned restrictions.

He said that Iran has been able to find new partners to buy its oil despite other countries no longer purchasing oil.

Mr Jahangiri said today on Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB): “America will certainly not be able to reduce Iran’s oil exports to zero.

“America thinks Saudi Arabia can replace this oil. But right now Iran’s oil has reached more than $80 and with half the previous exports we will have the same income as before.”
