Princess Eugenie looked stunning today in a wedding dress by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos.
A statement released on the official website for the Royal Family read: “During several fittings the dress was developed layer by layer, constructing it from the corset and the complex underskirt to the fitted bodice and full pleated skirt.
“The dress features a neckline that folds around the shoulders to a low back that drapes into a flowing full length train.
“The low back feature on the dress was at the specific request of Princess Eugenie who had surgery aged 12 to correct scoliosis.”
Another important element of the big day is often the bouquet. What did Eugenie choose for hers?
It was confirmed that Princess Eugenie and her groom Jack Brooksbank had asked floral designer Rob Van Helden to take on the important role.
FlorismartUK’s expert florist Katie-Jane Hermes said: “The style of the bouquet is a traditional wired design.”
This design is similar to that chosen by her mother Sarah Ferguson, 58.
Katie-Jane added: “Similar to her mother’s style but without the ‘S’ shape. It is full of beautiful textures.
“This is certainly a skilled design to make. She has chosen to go with the traditional petite floral style of previous weddings with a lot of textured flowers, surprisingly also including a blue thistle.
“This bouquet will be beautifully scented because of the stephanotis.”
The choice of flowers was also similar to that of Sarah’s.
“Similarly to Fergie’s bouquet we see white roses and lily of the valley.
“It is possible that the stephanotis was used as an alternative to the Gardenia, both have similar scents and flower shape.”
What do the flowers in Eugenie’s bouquet represent?
Roses – express promise, hope, and new beginnings
Lily of the valley – symbolises chastity, purity, happiness, luck and humility.
Stephanotis – comes from the Greek word crown
Thistle – represents bravery, devotion, durability, strength and determination.
Ivy – a traditional British foliage. Eternity, fidelity, and strong affectionate attachment, such as wedded love and friendship.
Princess Eugenie’s wedding tiara was the Greville Emerald tiara.
The piece is Margaret Greville’s Kokoshnik Emerald Tiara. It was made by made by Boucheron in 1921 and the whopping centre emerald is 93.70 carats.
