Manuel Akanji…

Borussia Dortmund centre-back Manuel Akanji has revealed that he would love to play for Manchester United in the future.

Akanji, 23, joined Dortmund from Basel for £15million in January and has quickly established himself as a regular under boss Lucien Favre.

The defender was included in Switzerland’s World Cup squad earlier this summer and played every minute as the side qualified from a tricky group containing Brazil, Serbia and Costa Rica.

And during a recent interview, Akanji revealed that he’s a boyhood Manchester United supporter and thinks it would ‘be nice’ to one day represent the Old Trafford club.

“Many know that Manchester United has been my favourite club since childhood,” he told Bluewin. “It would be nice to play there once. But that’s not an issue right now. I am very satisfied in Dortmund, want to win BVB titles and compete with the Swiss national team many more big tournaments.”

Romelu Lukaku exit?!

Romelu Lukaku has been tipped to leave Old Trafford if Jose Mourinho leaves – and the bookies have Chelsea as frontrunners for his signature.

Lukaku was signed by Mourinho two years ago but, despite impressing at Old Trafford, has been tipped to leave.

ESPN pundit Craig Burley thinks he will go should Mourinho’s head roll, saying: “He’s one of a number of United players that, once Mourinho goes, will have to be outed by the new regime. Whether that be a sporting director or a new manager.”

And Coral have now made Chelsea the favourites at 3-1 to sign Lukaku. PSG are available at 9/2 with Inter Milan then 6-1.

AC Milan, Atletico Madrid and former club Everton are at 8-1, 10-1 and 12-1 respectively.

“Chelsea missed out on Romelu Lukaku when he left Everton, however, the betting suggests if the Belgium international does leave Manchester United, he will make the move to Stamford Bridge,” said Coral’s John Hill.

Ryan Giggs preparing for top job

Ryan Giggs is preparing for the Manchester United job amid Jose Mourinho’s current crisis, according to Guillem Balague.

Manchester United legend Giggs is currently in charge of the Wales national team, having replaced Chris Coleman back in January.

And football expert Balague thinks he is using Wales to prepare for a chance to return to his former club.

Balague told AS: “They [Wales] did well in the last European Championship of France 2016 with that style, but Ryan Giggs has decided that he is in the selection as if it were a job interview: it will be his way of teaching the world that he can train anyone, that his philosophy is offensive.

“Come on, when he plays, he will be ready to take the reigns of Manchester United, the club of his loves, in which he played all his life.

“Actually Giggs is trying to play a small Manchester United but without the obligation to win, which is always the most complicated. That is why he will ask his people to be brave against Spain. Another thing is that it can be put into practice.”
