WWE news: John Cena reveals why he will NOT ditch new controversial hairstyle

Fans have been watching Cena perform with his signature buzz cut since 2002 when he debuted on Smackdown.

But the Champ sported a longer and well-groomed hairline on his return to the ring at WWE Super Show-Down in Australia where he teamed up with Bobby Lashley and defeated Kevin Owens as well as Elias in a Tag Team Match.

The 16-time world champion had to grow his hair for the needs of his upcoming movie Project X-traction and claims everyone hates the new hairdo but he will keep it because he likes “embracing the uncomfortable”.

The ex-WWE Champion also wants to teach his younger fans how important it is not to give in to bullying.

Cena told the Today show while promoting his new children’s book Elbow Grease: “I’m growing out my hair for a film that I am doing in China.

“I have to kind of manage it but the internet was like.. Man, I’ve been getting a lot of flack for it.

“Everybody hates it. When I came back I wrestled in Australia recently.

“Man, it was like, I had killed people’s childhood.

“So for that reason I’m gonna keep it. I was like, I’m gonna get it cut right after the movie’s over. So I got two months of filming.

“I’m gonna keep it just because I like embracing the uncomfortable.

“And it’s certainly a great way to handle negativity and I’m gonna meet a lot of young readers and maybe a lot of young readers will have questions about like, ‘Hey man, what do you do about bullying?’

“And I can literally show them like, ‘Hey, I get bullied all the time.’”

Cena’s next match will take place at WWE Crown Jewel on November 2 at the King Saud University Stadium in Saudi Arabia.

The former World Heavyweight Champion will compete in the first ever World Cup Tournament that will determine the best in the world.

The 41-year-old will face Kurt Angle, two other RAW superstars and four of Smackdown’s best.
