Khabib reveals the one thing he prayed for before Conor McGregor fight – chilling claim

Khabib beat Conor McGregor in the fourth round of the Lightweight title showdown in Las Vegas at UFC 229 this weekend.

The fight has been overshadowed by the aftermath though when Khabib jumped the octagon and attacked McGregor’s team.

The Irish man was also then attacked by two others of Khabib’s team.

Khabib’s purse is currently being held by Nevada Athletic Commission and he could be stripped of his title.

Dana White refused to give him his belt in the arena, but Khabib travelled back home to celebrate and raised the belt in front of his fans at a local football stadium.

And during the ceremony Khabib revealed his thinking going into the fight, admitting he wanted to teach McGregor a lesson.

“I prayed to God for one thing, to be left alone in the cage with this clown. I asked him this every day,” he said.

“I prayed that we would have no injuries, that we would make weight, and regain our strength, and finally be locked in that cage.

“Because a lot was said outside that cage, and I said that once that octagon door is shut, I am not responsible for my actions.”

Khabib was furious with McGregor’s antics in the build up to the fight and felt disrespected by a lot of what he said.

And Khabib wanted to show him the difference between the two men, but he showed little remorse for his actions in the chaos afterwards.

“The first thing I wanted to show him, is the difference between our people, and his people,” he said.

“We know our history, our ancestors, and what our people have been through. Nothing can break us.

“And with what happened afterwards, some people say I did the wrong thing, others that I did the right thing.

“You can’t confine an eagle to a cage. And I showed them that.”
