Grieving bride cries on grave of dead fiancé on their ‘wedding day’

Jessica Padgett can be seen kneeling at her fiance Kendall James Murphy’s headstone when they should have been exchanging vows on September 29.

Firefighter Murphy, 27, died in a four vehicle crash in November last year as he was responding to a call.

His colleague Colby Blake, who was driving one of the other vehicles, was arrested and charged with drink driving.

Brave Jessica, from Evansville, Indiana in the US chose to honour her late beau by posing for photos with his grave, his boots and his loved ones.

The heart-wrenching pictures taken by Loving Life Photography show her go through a number of emotions.

In one photo showing Murphy photoshopped standing next to her, the photographer captions it: “She made broken look beautiful and strong look invincible.

“She walked with the Universe on her shoulders and made it look like a pair of wings.”

The images have been shared more than 21,000 times since being posted to Facebook on October 5.

After the big day, Padgett wrote: “What a emotional, amazing weekend this was! This foundation not only honored my Kendall, but also took us in as family. [sic]

“This wasn’t what we wanted in the end, but at least we know we will never be alone, we have all become one big supporting family.

“You will forever be in our hearts #616 @ National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.”

The Murphy and Padgett families attended the National Firefighters Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland to honour Kendall on October 7.

Murphy had been with the Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department since June 2016.

He was “following his father and grandfather’s footsteps” by joining the service.

Paying tribute, the National Fallen Firefighters Association described Kendall as “a selfless man of God who loved spending time with family and friends”.

They added: “He had a true servant’s heart and captivating personality that would light up any room.

“His wittiness would make anyone laugh and have him making friends in no time. He didn’t know a stranger.”
