Pixel 2 price plummets ahead of tomorrow’s major Google Pixel 3 release

After months of rumours and leaks, the new Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL will be revealed at a major keynote in New York tomorrow.

These devices are expected to be packed with new features including a faster processor, longer battery life and improved displays.

The Pixel 3XL looks likely to get the biggest refresh with leaked photos revealing an edge-to-edge design and Apple iPhone-style notch at the top of the phone.

All will be revealed later tomorrow but ahead of the launch event Google’s current flagship, the Pixel 2, has been slashed in price.

The older Pixel 2 and 2XL are both excellent devices and feature one of the purest Android experiences on the market.

The rear camera is also regarded as one of the finest smartphone snappers around with it scoring top marks from the team DxO.

In fact, at the time of the initial review, the camera testing firm said: “The Google Pixel 2 is the top-performing mobile device camera we’ve tested, with a record-setting overall score of 98.”

If you fancy tucking a Pixel 2 in your pocket then it seems now is a very good time.

These phones can currently be grabbed for under £450 which is a saving of over £100 off their original price.

Currys is currently selling the standard Pixel 2 with 64GB of memory for £449 – saving £180.

That’s a good deal but things get even better for those buying the bigger Pixel 2 XL.

Google sells this device for £799hearbut Currys has cut the price to just £499 for the 64GB model – saving a whopping £300.

If you want more memory you can also grab the 128GB Pixel 2 XL for £599 – saving £300.

Along with Currys selling Google’s flagship at hugely discounted prices, Carphone Warehouse also has identical SIM-Free offers on these phones.

Carphone is also selling the Pixel 2 on contract for as little as £22.99 per month.

There’s no word on how long these offers will be live but expect plenty more price cuts once the new Pixel and Pixel 3XL hit stores.
