WWE news: Smackdown star Cesaro trolls VAR at WWE Super Show-Down during hilarious protest

The Swiss Superman joined forces with his Bar team-mate Sheamus and challenged Kofi Kingston as well as Xavier Woods of The New Day.

Kingston and Woods retained the Smackdown Tag Team Championships despite The Bar’s best efforts to leave the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia with the gold.

But Cesaro had fans in stitches midway through the match when he complained about the referee’s count.

The ex-US Champion placed Kingston’s head in the middle rope and Sheamus took advantage of the referee turning his back as he kneed The New Day member in the head.

Cesaro went for the pin but the former Intercontinental Champion kicked out before the count of three.

The Swiss grappler, who is also an avid football fan, insisted the count was too slow and urged the official to check the replay as he made the signature VAR rectangle signal.

VAR has been implemented in various esteemed competitions, such as the Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga and the World Cup, in order to correct and clarify referees’ ‘clear and obvious errors’ during the game.

The video technology system only intervenes in case of goals, penalties, straight red cards and mistaken identity.

VAR has attracted some criticism ever since its introduction and the Premier League has decided not to implement it.

Cesaro and Sheamus are big fans of the game and The Celtic Warrior especially is keeping up with the Prem as he is a loyal Liverpool supporter.

Their love for football is one of many reasons which have allowed them to gel in the ring and form The Bar.

The two of them became four-time RAW Tag Team Champions ever since joining forces in 2016.

They have also beaten some of the best teams in professional wrestling, such as The New Day, The Usos and The Hardy Boyz.

Their feud with Kingston, Woods and Big E might continue ahead of WWE’s next overseas Pay-Per-View event WWE Crown Jewel.

The show takes place on November 2 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and will see Brock Lesnar returning to action to challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship in a Triple Threat Match that will also include Braun Strowman.
