Haiti earthquake: Haiti rocked AGAIN by strong quake

The 5.2 quake hit at around 8pm BST, just over 100 miles from the capital of Port-au-Prince and just 50 miles from the city of Cap-Haitien.

Shocked residents left witness reports on earthquake tracking website EMSC-CSEM.

One said: “It woke the dogs up.”

Another said: “I was sleeping but I felt things moving.”.

A third said: “Furniture was moving.”

This evening’s earthquake struck at a relatively shallow depth of six miles.

It will only hinder rescue efforts after a deadly earthquake struck Haiti this morning.

A local official said at least eight people died in Port-de-Paix on the northern coast near the epicenter of this morning’s quake.

Four people were killed in and around the town of Gros-Morne farther south, local authorities said, including a woman who died from a heart attack suffered after the quake.

Another person was killed in the town of Chansolme when a house collapsed and one other person in Saint-Louis-du-Nord.

Rescue teams fanned out to help residents, many of whom were still dealing with the trauma of a devastating earthquake in 2010.
