New Fortnite Save the World patches have been released in recent weeks to help solve some of the game’s recent performance issues.

This will come as a relief to those affected fans, who are also curious about what Epic Games has planned for season 6.

It’s a fair question to ask, as we already know that STW will not be releasing on any new platform.

Both mobile and Nintendo Switch versions have been ruled out by Epic Games, who are busy with their other major title – Fortnite Battle Royale.

The good news is that we know the development team are not planning to end production on Save the World, which will continue to receive new content in 2018.

In fact, we just found what is coming next to the game on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

A new Dev Update video has been posted to Reddit and other social channels, confirming the latest on Canny Valley and other projects.

It, unfortunately, skips over one of the game’s biggest updates, the release of Fortnite Save the World as a free-to-play title.

Nothing has been mentioned for months on what is being done to make STW available to everyone through free codes.

These are in high demand due to them offering a way for players to farm for free V-buck in Save the World.

But the idea of new players just for that purpose isn’t something that current players want.

Rumours have circulated online and predictions have been made by fans themselves over how Epic Games plans to support the game after F2P starts.

Some believe that free V-Bucks farming will be removed, or at least significantly reduced, to make way for some kind of microtransaction support.

The big plans for F2P are still scheduled to arrive later in 2018, making season 6 a possible time for their release.

However, the latest update blog from the development team doesn’t touch on the subject but does contain some good news related to new content.

The latest dev video confirms that new Canny Valley story content is being released during season 6, along with new locations to visit.

New Ghost Towns and the expansion of Ray’s storyline is expected to be released in November, with production currently ongoing.

Another big change coming to the game during season 6 is the tweaking of how Power Ratings will work.

According to the STW studio team, the system will go from being based around the party leader’s power rating to something covering the whole team’s combined power.

This will mean those that aren’t strong enough to take on the mission will need to be left behind or replaced.

This is coming in a new 6.10 update, which doesn’t have a release date at this time.

A new post on the official Save the World Reddit page confirms: “Power Level Restrictions have been a HUGE ask by the community for a long time.

“We are now able to implement the feature in a way that we’re comfortable with and are confident this will address a major pain point with the community.

“We’re not done yet; we still have more information to bring as Billy mentioned in the video.”

It was also confirmed that these changes will be enforced in the public games but will not be available in private games.

This should mean that friends with differing power ratings will still be able to play together.

Epic Games have also announced that the “retrieve the data” mission type is being changed, with new storm mechanics being introduced.

This new variant will offer its own quests and rewards and will focus more on speed.

The last segment of the Save the World update blog may have caught fan attention too.

Epic Games’ Billy Bramer signed off by saying new free heroes would be coming to the game in the near future, along with more “surprises”.

This will be confirmed in the coming weeks, meaning it could have something to do with Halloween.

It might also include news on the new F2P update; however, that remains speculation at this time.

The original Fortnite mode was announced to be following in the footsteps of Battle Royale by adopting the F2P this year, and the latest can be found on this official Epic Games website.
