Conor McGregor fight: Makhachkala celebrates Khabib’s triumph following Las Vegas brawl

229 Russian fans took it to the streets of Makhachkala, Russia, on Saturday to celebrate Khabib’s win over in Las Vegas.

Nurmagomedov’s compatriots can be seen breaking into traditional dances and singing their lungs out while chanting “Khabib! Khabib!”

The controversial UFC 229 sporting event ended in a huge violent brawl when members of Khabib’s team broke into the ring and started fighting McGregor after his defeat.

Khabib defeated the Irish fighter in the fourth round via rear naked choke, forced McGregor to tap out.

The bout’s outcome preserved Khabib’s undefeated record, which stands at 27-0.

But Khabib jumped into the crowd afterwards, attempting to fight McGregor’s team-mate Dillon Danis, which sparked a mass brawl inside and outside the Octagon.

UFC President Dana White expressed his disgust at the situation and hinted the 30-year-old champion could now lose his title, while also potentially face criminal charges and seeing his visa revoked.

And Bisping claims Khabib’s reputation has been destroyed after his run-in with McGregor’s entourage.

“He’s absolutely destroyed his reputation, potentially lost his lightweight title, he’s probably going to face criminal charges, a suspension by the commission and he might have his visa revoked,” Bisping said after the fight.

“This is ridiculous.”

A rematch was mooted by UFC pundits when the dust settled after the UFC 229 brawl.

Talk of that has gathered pace after McGregor, taking to Twitter at 10.20 this morning, appeared to confirm that it was on the cards.

He wrote: “Good knock. Looking forward to the rematch.”

It was the McGregor’s first appearance inside the Octagon for nearly two years following his adventure into the boxing world.

He picked up a reported $100million from his fight with Floyd Mayweather and claimed he was in line to earn around half of that for his clash with Khabib.

Ahead of UFC 229, McGregor said: “It’s a tasty, tasty, record-breaking deal. It’s give or take [nine figures]. The Mayweather fight was nine figures but we’re almost there, it’s a good, solid eight figures; halfway there.”
