PUBG Mobile update: Tencent teasing big news ahead of next patch

Something is being teased by the developers of the hit battle royale game on Android and iOS, for PUBG Mobile.

It comes in the literal form of a huge advert for the game on Times Square, New York.

Described as a “mysterious banner for the game”, the new ad was part of the famous street today, taking centre-stage.

PUBG Mobile appeared on display on the side of the NASDAQ Stock Exchange Building, with a secret message being hidden in there somewhere.

“A mysterious banner for the game, displayed on the famous the Nasdaq MarketSite, already has onlookers going bananas at what developer Tencent Games and PUBG Corporation might have up (or on) its sleeves,” a message from Tencent reads.

“More details on the meaning of the PUBG MOBILE Times Square banner will be shared soon.

“This mysterious teaser arrives just weeks after Tencent Games announced the milestone of 20 million daily users in PUBG MOBILE. Keep your eyes peeled for more news from PUBG MOBILE in the future!”

As the teaser suggests, nothing is being revealed right now; however, some fans believe they know what is coming.

The official PUBG Mobile Twitter also posted a hint on the same reveal, along with a picture to go with.

Fans believe the silhouette in the middle of the image is connected to the BAPE clothing brand, something that would fit in with the ‘on sleeve’ tease.

A Bathing Ape is a clothing brand that has already done some notable collaborations in the past, with the likes of Marvel, Hello Kitty, and Spongebob Squarepants.

“A Bathing Ape, also known as BAPE, is a Japanese streetwear brand founded in 1993 by NIGO,” the official BAPE site explains.

“It encompasses men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, as well as a variety of accessories and lifestyle items.

“In 2011, it was announced that Hong Kong-based fashion conglomerate I.T Group purchased the brand for $2.8 million USD, and by 2013 NIGO had stepped down from the brand’s creative helm.”

The teaser image posted on Twitter also features the date October 2018, suggesting that something will be announced in the coming weeks.

Whatever it turns out to be, it probably won’t have a connection with the next game update.

PUBG Mobile update 0.8.5 is already in beta testing and can be download from Android and iOS app stores for testing.

No release date has been provided for when the next patch will be released, although an October launch doesn’t seem out of the question.

From what has been shared online about the new build, it doesn’t contain many new features and mainly focuses on bug fixes.

Performance is noted to have dropped with the launch of the 0.8.0 update, so this could be the main point of the next update.

So it looks like fans can look forward to updates in October, one focused on performance issues and the other more cosmetic.
