Donald Trump RESPONDS to Brett Kavanaugh protest outside Supreme Court with SMUG tweet

The US President dismissed the demonstration, asserting it “wouldn’t even fill the first couple of rows” at a Trump ‘Make America Great Again Rally’.

He also accused the “fake news media” of misrepresenting the size of the crowd.

Trump said: “The crowd in front of the US Supreme Court is tiny, looks like about 200 people (and most are onlookers) – that wouldn’t even fill the first couple of rows of our Kansas rally, or any of our rallies for that matter!

“The fake news media tries to make it look sooo big and it’s not!”

Mass arrests took place yesterday as the police apprehended crowds of people protesting the confirmation of the controversial Judge Kavanaugh.

Capitol Police said they arrested 164 protesters in total, both before and during the vote.

Those arrested were charged with Crowding, Obstructing or Incommoding.

The police said the protestors were processed off-site and released.

The demonstration outside the Supreme Court was due to accusations of sexual assault by three women, including Dr Christine Blasey Ford, who testified in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee last week.

Dr Ford gave a detailed account of an alleged assault that took place whilst the two were in high school.

Mr Kavanaugh vehemently denied the allegation and a week-long FBI investigation found that her story could not be adequately corroborated.

The vote on the judge today was passed 50-48 in the Senate, giving him the post for life.

Protestors in the Senate gallery briefly interrupted the vote by shouting “shame on you”.

Mr Kavanagh was sworn in almost immediately by Chief Justice John Roberts, according to a statement from the court.

This takes the Supreme Court down a more conservative path and is a bitter blow to Democrats already fuming at the Republican control of the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives.
