Just last week everyone was convinced that the Avengers 4 title was Endgame after the Russo Brothers posted a cryptic photograh from the set.
Then last night a major rumour started spreading that it was actually Annihilation.
Now a major star from the Marvel Cinematic Universe has just teased that he will let slip some huge news on the Jimmy Fallon show later tonight.
Ruffalo has considerable previous history of accidentally revealing spoilers along with fellow serial offender Tom Holland but Marvel is never one to miss a trick and has recently started employing similar ‘accidental’ leaks to drop major news.
Holland did just that by ‘accidentally’ revealing the Spider-Man 2 far From Home title during a fan video at Seattle Comic Con.
Earlier today Ruffalo tweeted: “@JimmyFallon, I trust that you will cut my spoiler slip on the show tonight. That was ‘off the record’ homey. Please don’t get me in trouble with Marvel (Barry) again. DM me back.”
The official Jimmy Fallon Twitter account replied: “Dude, it’s too late – already sent the final show to Burbank for air. Are you sure you’re gonna be in trouble? We could maybe bleep it out. What is ‘DM’?”
Fans immediately cottoned on that this could be the Avengers 4 title reveal.
One wrote: “Tom Holland is going to be so mad if Mark Ruffalo leaks the #Avengers 4 Title before he has a chance to.”
Another said; “IS THIS SCRIPTED??? IS THIS A MARKETING STRATEGY? DO WE GET AN UPDATE TONIGHT? PLEASE BE THE TITLE.”
The Marvel filmmakers always said they would reveal the title long after Infinity war had left cinemas becasue it held significance for the final movie in this first epic MCU cycle. They also said nothing would be released until after teh first Captain Marvel trailer, which ahs been and gone.
The actual trailer is widely expected to arrive in November but fans are feverishly focussed on trying to work out the title.
Mark Ruffalo also recently revealed even the ending of the movie itself may still be up in the air.
“We’re not just doing reshoots,” he told The Marvelists podcast. “We’re going to finish the movie, which we really didn’t get to finish totally when we left it last year.
“I don’t even know that they really know exactly if it is happening while we’re there.
“It’s pretty amazing. And we’ll shoot some stuff and a few days later come back and reshoot it ’cause we wanna take it in another direction.”
